30 Hour Famine RECAP!

June 8, 2008

[UPDATE: The final total for funds raised was $1831.68!]

Liverpool Community Church Youth

Next time you see one of the teenagers that participated in the 30 Hour Famine this past weekend take a minute to congratulate them!

Money is still coming in from some students but as of today (6/8/08) our students have raised $1376.52 (see updated total at top) and collected well over $200 worth of groceries at Nichols Supermarket on Saturday! The groceries have been donated to a food pantry that P.E.A.C.E. Inc. runs and the money is going to World Vision & to 0% interest micro-loans through Kiva.org.

Enjoy this short little music video with some photos from “the Famine.”

Youth Ministry Summer Camps

May 15, 2008

The first round of information on the jr. high & sr. high summer camps is now posted at LiverpoolYouth.com!

Why a send your teen away for a couple days? Several reasons…

  • Teens are in an incredibly positive, Christ centered environment… that is definitely NOT a bad thing!
  • Distractions are removed from a persons life on a retreat. (Yes, we do take their iPods & cell phones away!)
  • God ALWAYS does something incredible when we get away–ALWAYS!
  • Kids come back changed…and so does every adult that goes. Seriously…God just does something awesome!

30 Hour Famine Info Meeting

April 28, 2008

30 Hour FamineOn Sunday, May 4 (after second service in the Youth Wing) there is an information meeting so parents of students (grades 6-12) can learn all about the 30 Hour Famine and how you can be involved.

You can go ahead and find out a little more on what this thing is all about by going to- 30HourFamine.org

We are going to be learning all about how we can make a real difference in the world and raising money that will make a real difference. Here is what we are raising money for:

  • World Vision – Raising $30 feeds one child for one month! Imagine what we could do as a group!
  • Kiva.org – We are going to set aside a portion of the funds raised to make 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs in Third World nations. We will be researching where we should invest, following updates from the business owners throughout the year, and then reinvesting the money into new businesses when the loans are repayed.

Questions? Send an email to Pastor Chris.
